Medeama recorded a 2-1 victory against Bechem United at the Akoon Community Park in Tarkwa to cut Aduana’s lead at the top of the Premier League table to 2 points.
The home side registered their intent from the first blast of the referee’s whistle and went ahead in the 19th minute, Jonathan Sowah scored with a beautiful shot from inside the box.
Medeama doubled their lead in the 32nd minute, Vincent Atingah took advantage of a poor communication between the goalkeeper and his defenders to head the ball home, his 10th league goal of the season.
In the 78th minute, Francis Acquah scored to reduce the deficit and give Bechem United hopes of a comeback but Medeama held on to win 2-1 and move 2 points behind leaders Aduana FC.
At the Nana Agyemang Badu II park, leaders Aduana FC were held to a scoreless draw by a spirited Karela United side.
In other results, Asante Kotoko were held to a 1-1 draw by Bibiani GoldStars at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Solomon Sarfo Taylor gave Asante Kotoko the lead in the 5th minute, before Abednego Tetteh came from the bench to score late for GoldStars.
Samartex scored late to record a historic 3-2 win against Hearts of Oak at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena. Kwasi Ofosu gave the home side the lead in the 7th minute. Hearts of Oak leveled the score in the 42nd minute through Gideon Asante Yeboah, before going ahead in the 64th minute from a Linda Mtange effort.
In the 76th minute, Emmanuel Keyekeh scored to make it 2-2. Later in the game, Seidu Dauda Yussif scored a controversial goal to complete a comeback and a 3-2 win for Samartex.
At the Golden City Park, Berekum Chelsea beat Accra Lions 4-0. Stephen Amankona scored a brace, while Dramani Awuah and Henry Ainsu scored the other goals.
Five goals in the first half saw Legon Cities edge Nsoatreman 3-2. Eric Osei Bonsu, Samuel Armah and Abdul Rahman scored for Legon Cities, while Samuel Ofori scored the two goals for Nsoatreman. Legon Cities finished the game with 10 players, Samuel Armah was sent off.
At the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale, Real Tamale United (RTU) and Dreams FC played out a pulsating scoreless draw.
Great Olympics scored in either half to beat Kotoku Royals 2-0 and in the process move out of the relegation zone. Isaac Mensah and Michael Osei the goal scorers. The defeat relegates Kotoku Royals to the Division One League.
Tamale City defeated King Faisal 4-0 at the Aliu Mahama Stadium to extend their unbeaten run to five games. Sampson Eduku scored a brace while Sammy Osae Akoto and Godknows Dzakpasu scored the other goals.
