Herbert Mensah, the former board chairman of Asante Kotoko, has stated that the club can only progress if the board chairman and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) work in harmony.
There have been rumors of a rift between current CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah and board chair Dr. Kwame Kyei for the past year.
Fans have complained that this issue is the reason why the club is performing poorly in the Ghana Premier League this season.
Herbert Mensah has urged both the CEO and the board chairman to come to a consensus and work together towards the betterment of the club.
He emphasized that whoever is in charge of Asante Kotoko is temporary and that they should manage the club for the wider supporters and not for themselves.
“Whoever is in charge of Kotoko is there temporarily. Both the Chief Executive Officer and the Board chairman are appointed by Manhyia, they need to work hand in hand,” Mr. Herbert Mensah said in an interview with Akoma FM in Kumasi.
He added, “I hope Dr. Kyei and Nana Yaw Amponsah both will appreciate this fact, you play and manage for the wider supporters and not yourself and the two ought to understand that. This is the way forward for Kotoko.”
Asante Kotoko’s chances of winning the Ghana Premier League this season have decreased after their 1-1 draw with Bibiani Gold Stars over the weekend.
