In a pivotal clash at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena, Samartex secured a crucial 2-1 win over Hearts of Oak, extending their lead at the summit of the Ghana Premier League and halting Hearts of Oak’s eight-game unbeaten streak.

The match began with both sides showcasing determination and intent, but it was Samartex who drew first blood, as Evans Osei Wusu netted a close-range header in the 23rd minute, setting the tone for the encounter.

Despite trailing, Hearts of Oak displayed resilience, and their efforts paid off when Hamza Issah capitalized on a rebound to level the score in the 77th minute, igniting hopes of a comeback.

However, Samartex’s determination proved decisive, as Osei Wusu struck again in the 87th minute with a remarkable finish, securing the win for his side.

With this victory, Samartex now boasts a five-point lead at the top of the league standings, positioning them as strong contenders for the league title with 11 games remaining in the season.

The Samreboi-based club now have 42 points, five points better than second-placed Nations FC (37) who have a date with Kotoko on Sunday afternoon.

The defeat marks Hearts of Oak’s first under coach Aboubakar Ouattara, highlighting the challenges they face as they strive for success in the Ghana Premier League.
