Dreams FC secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over ten-man Accra Lions on matchday 16 of the Ghana Premier League at the Tuba Astro Turf, ending a recent winless streak.
Kelvin Ahiable scored the decisive goal in the second half of a match marked by several controversial referee decisions, including a red card for Accra Lions’ Edmund Amakye.
The hosts, sitting just behind their opponents at the bottom of the table, had an early opportunity when Jonathan Nemorden’s header was saved by the Lions’ goalkeeper. Moments later, Accra Lions’ striker Lucky Nwafor found himself with a golden chance but was unable to convert. Nwafor missed another opportunity before halftime, as Lions controlled possession but failed to capitalize.
After the break, Accra Lions were controversially flagged offside twice in quick succession, halting their growing momentum.
Midway through the second half, the match took a decisive turn when Amakye was sent off for a foul, leaving Lions with a numerical disadvantage.
Dreams FC seized the opportunity, and Ahiable broke the deadlock with 20 minutes remaining, putting the hosts ahead.
Despite a late surge from the visitors, Dreams FC remained solid defensively and secured all three points at home.
