Young Apostles secured a vital 2-0 victory over Karela United on Sunday at the Wenchi Sports Stadium, marking an important step in their debut Ghana Premier League season.
The home side ended their winless streak with goals in each half, showing composure and determination throughout the match.
Samuel Prempeh opened the scoring in the 35th minute, giving Young Apostles the lead before halftime. The hosts extended their advantage in the 64th minute, converting a well-executed set piece to put the game beyond Karela’s reach.
Despite making tactical changes in an attempt to find a breakthrough, Karela struggled to break down a resolute Young Apostles defense. The hosts remained disciplined and saw out the game to claim all three points.
Both teams started the match level on 14 points, but the win lifts Young Apostles to 12th place on the league table with 17 points. Karela, however, finds themselves in the relegation zone after a run of poor form, with just one win in their last nine matches.
Karela will aim to turn their fortunes around when they visit Nsoatreman in their next fixture, while Young Apostles will hope to build on this victory as they prepare to host Bechem United.
