Nana Kwame Oppong scored twice to lead Heart of Lions to a commanding 3-1 victory over Accra Lions at the Kpando Stadium on Matchday 28 of the Ghana Premier League, moving the hosts up to third on the league table.

Yaw Danso opened the scoring early for Heart of Lions with a superb freekick, setting the tone for an intense encounter between two sides coming off midweek victories.

Accra Lions responded with urgency, nearly equalizing through a swift counterattack, but the hosts remained solid at the back to preserve their lead going into the break.

Heart of Lions resumed the second half with renewed intensity, and Oppong doubled their advantage shortly after the restart. The forward sealed his brace in the 83rd minute, effectively ending any hopes of a comeback from the visitors.

David Akintunde scored a late consolation for Accra Lions with four minutes remaining, but it was not enough to spark a turnaround for the struggling side.

The win strengthens Heart of Lions’ push for a top-four finish, while Accra Lions remain deep in the relegation battle.
