Nations FC continued their impressive campaign with a narrow but crucial 1-0 victory over Dreams FC on Wednesday afternoon at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, moving up to second on the Ghana Premier League table.
The Abrankese-based side secured all three points thanks to an early strike from winger Faisal Charwatey, who found the back of the net in the 7th minute. The goal, which ultimately proved to be the winner, came after a bright start by the hosts and was well taken by Charwatey, who capitalized on a lapse in the Dreams defense.
The game remained tightly contested, with both sides creating chances, but Nations FC showed resilience and tactical discipline to maintain their lead and keep a clean sheet. Their organized defense frustrated the visitors, who struggled to break through despite their efforts in the second half.
The win marks Nations FC’s 14th of the season and lifts them to second place on the league log, just two points behind current leaders Gold Stars FC, with seven matches left to play.
Dreams FC, who came into the match in ninth place, suffered their second consecutive defeat following last weekend’s heavy loss to Medeama. The Believers will now need to regroup as the race for a top-half finish intensifies.
With momentum on their side, Nations FC have firmly placed themselves in contention for a historic title challenge in only their second season in the topflight.
