Nsoatreman FC secured a much-needed 1-0 win over Karela United at the Nana Kronmansah II Park on Sunday, January 19, 2025, ending their nine-match winless run in the Ghana Premier League.

The decisive moment came in the 53rd minute when the hosts were awarded a penalty after Mohammed Abdul Rahman was fouled inside the box. Eric Osei Bonsu stepped up and confidently converted the spot-kick, giving Nsoatreman a crucial lead in an intense encounter between two teams struggling in the league.

Despite relentless pressure from Karela United, Yaw Preko’s side defended resolutely to preserve their slim advantage and secure a long-awaited victory. The win sees Nsoatreman climb to 12th place in the league standings, providing a significant morale boost for the team and their coach.

For Karela United, the result was another setback in a challenging campaign. Still stuck in the relegation zone, they felt hard done by the referee’s decision to award the penalty, which they strongly contested. The defeat extends their winless run to five matches, with only one victory in their last ten league outings.

Looking ahead, Karela face a daunting trip to face Asante Kotoko as they aim to reverse their fortunes. Meanwhile, Nsoatreman will hope to build on this momentum when they travel to face league debutants Young Apostles.

This hard-fought victory offers hope for Nsoatreman as they seek to pull away from the relegation battle, while Karela must regroup quickly to keep their survival hopes alive.
