Karela United head coach Nurudeen Amadu believes his side did enough to earn at least a point despite their narrow 1-0 defeat to Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League.
Karela United suffered the loss at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday after conceding an early goal to Isaac Agyemang, who handed the Porcupine Warriors all three points in the Matchday Five encounter.
Despite falling behind early, Karela United worked hard to get back into the game and created several opportunities to find an equaliser. However, their inability to convert those chances proved costly as Kotoko held on to secure victory.
Speaking after the match, Amadu expressed disappointment with the result but praised his players for their overall performance, particularly their response after conceding the opening goal.
The Karela United coach explained that his team grew stronger as the match progressed, with their second-half performance giving him confidence that they deserved a better outcome.
He attributed the defeat largely to the team’s failure to take advantage of the scoring opportunities they created, insisting that their performance did not reflect a side that deserved to leave Kumasi empty-handed.
Amadu, however, acknowledged that football does not always reward a team according to its performance. He encouraged his players to remain focused, continue working hard in training and learn from the missed opportunities.
The defeat leaves Karela United in ninth position on the Ghana Premier League table, while Asante Kotoko have moved up to third place following their victory.
Karela United will now seek to recover from the setback in their next league fixture as they aim to improve their position and turn their performances into positive results.
