Asante Kotoko assistant coach Hamza Obeng has praised his players for their discipline and tactical execution following their narrow 1-0 victory over Karela United in the Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors secured all three points at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 1, 2026, as they returned to winning ways after suffering defeat to Aduana FC in their previous league match.
An early goal from Isaac Agyemang proved decisive, giving Kotoko the advantage they needed to claim victory in a closely contested encounter against the Tamale-based side.
Speaking after the match, Obeng expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, particularly the players’ ability to implement the tactical instructions provided by the technical team during training.
He explained that the encounter was challenging but commended the players for remaining committed to the team’s strategy and carrying out their responsibilities on the pitch.
The assistant coach noted that the technical team was pleased with the players’ discipline and their determination to follow the game plan, which ultimately helped the club secure the maximum points.
Despite the victory, Obeng stressed that Kotoko must continue working hard and improve their performance as the league campaign progresses.
The win in the fifth round of the Ghana Premier League has lifted Asante Kotoko to third position on the league table, strengthening their early-season campaign.
Karela United, meanwhile, occupy ninth position following the defeat and will look to recover in their next fixture.
Kotoko will now turn their attention to their upcoming league assignment as they seek to maintain their momentum and remain competitive in the race for the Premier League title.
