A thrilling clash awaits on Sunday at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex as league leaders Nations FC welcome defending champions FC Samartex 1996 in a title defining Premier League showdown.

Nations FC have emerged as genuine title contenders this season and are showing no signs of slowing down. They head into the weekend with four wins in their last five matches, including an emphatic 4-1 away victory over Legon Cities at the UG Stadium on Monday. That result helped them maintain their narrow one-point lead at the summit as the race for the Premier League title intensifies.

Under the guidance of Kassim Mingle Ocansey, the Abrankese-based side has developed into a formidable force. They currently boast the league’s most potent attack with 37 goals and the strongest defence, having conceded just 16 times in 31 matches. Nations FC have been especially dominant at home, going unbeaten in their last four matches without conceding a single goal. Ranked among the league’s top home performers, they will be targeting a 10th home win on Sunday as they edge closer to a historic first Premier League title.

FC Samartex 1996 are quietly positioning themselves for a late surge toward the top four. The Timber Giants sit sixth with 48 points after a solid run of three wins, one draw, and one defeat in their last five matches. Christopher Ennin’s side have scored 31 goals and conceded 22, showcasing balance and resilience.

Though their away form has been inconsistent, Samartex are still ranked the sixth-best away team in the league heading into this fixture.

This match will mark only the second league meeting between the two sides in Abrankese since Nations FC’s promotion to the top flight last season. In their previous encounter, Nations FC secured a 2-0 home victory—a result they will be keen to replicate.
