Nations FC will look to maintain their impressive Premier League surge when they host record champions Asante Kotoko at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Sunday, April 20, 2025, in a highly anticipated Week 28 showdown.
The Abrankese-based side has been one of the standout teams this season, currently sitting second on the table with 48 points, just two behind leaders Bibiani Gold Stars. Under head coach Kasim Mingle Ocansey, Nations FC are unbeaten in their last five league matches (W4, D1) and have emerged as serious title contenders.
Nations FC have scored 30 goals — the second-highest tally in the league — and boast the best defensive record, conceding only 14 goals all season. At home, they’ve been solid, ranking among the league’s top ten in home form. They come into this clash with back-to-back home wins over Karela United and Dreams FC, and will be aiming to secure a third consecutive home victory for the first time this campaign.
Asante Kotoko, on the other hand, will be desperate to bounce back after their nine-game unbeaten streak was abruptly ended by a 3-0 loss to Accra Lions in midweek. That defeat saw Prosper Narteh Ogum’s men slip to third place with 47 points, just one behind their weekend opponents.
Despite the setback, the Porcupine Warriors remain firmly in the title race. They’ve netted 28 goals and conceded 19, and have been strong away from home — losing only four times on the road, placing them among the league’s five best travelers.
Sunday’s clash will be just the second-ever top-flight meeting between Nations FC and Kotoko in Abrankese. Their only previous encounter at the venue ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw last season — a result that both sides will be keen to improve upon in what promises to be a decisive battle in the title race.
