Bechem United secured their third consecutive victory with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Accra Lions at the Nana Fosu Gyeabuor Park on Sunday.
Isaiah Nyarko’s deflected goal early in the second half proved decisive, earning the Hunters all three points against the struggling Lions.
The first half ended goalless, but not without opportunities. Accra Lions came close to opening the scoring through a swift counter-attack, with winger Blessing Asuman narrowly missing the final touch. Nigerian forward Lucky Nwafor also rattled the crossbar with a powerful strike midway through the first half, keeping the hosts on edge.
Two minutes into the second half, Bechem United found the breakthrough. Nyarko’s strike, which took a deflection off Accra Lions defender Remember Boateng, wrong-footed the goalkeeper and gave the home side the lead.
Despite trailing, Accra Lions fought back, creating chances and pushing the Hunters deep into their half. However, Bechem United’s defense stood firm, displaying excellent discipline to preserve their slim advantage.
The win keeps Bechem United’s momentum alive as they extend their winning streak, while Accra Lions must regroup quickly to climb out of their challenging position in the league standings.
