Nations FC missed an opportunity to put pressure on the league leaders, Samartex, as they settled for a 2-2 draw against Bofoakwa Tano at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Sunday, April 14, 2024.
Bofoakwa Tano surprised the hosts by taking an early lead in the 13th minute, with Charles Mensah scoring after a pass from Sammy Akoto Osae.
Nations FC had a chance to equalize when they were awarded a penalty, but Asamoah Boateng missed the opportunity.
However, Nations FC managed to level the score just before halftime, with Barimah Baah finding the back of the net.
In the second half, Bofoakwa Tano continued to press forward, believing they could snatch a victory. Their efforts paid off when Emmanuel Agyenim scored in the 82nd minute to put them ahead again.
But Nations FC quickly responded, with Prince Acquah scoring the equalizer just five minutes later, ensuring that Nations FC’s unbeaten home record remained intact.
With this draw, Nations FC now trail Samartex by 5 points and will face Heart of Lions in their next match.
Bofoakwa Tano, currently in 15th position, are only above the relegation zone based on goal difference. They will host Bechem United in their next game in Sunyani.
