Great Olympics triumphed in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Berekum Chelsea on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium during matchweek 32 of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.
This victory marked Great Olympics’ first win in seven matches, having previously endured three consecutive losses.
The result significantly boosts the Dade boys’ hopes of avoiding relegation. They now hold 16th place on the league table with 36 points, just two points clear of the relegation zone.
Despite the defeat, Berekum Chelsea remains in eighth place with 44 points, though their recent form has been concerning.
Isaac Mensah scored the opening goal in the 25th minute, but Stephen Amankona equalized for Berekum Chelsea in the 63rd minute. Mensah struck again five minutes later to restore Great Olympics’ lead, only for Amankona to equalize once more in the 73rd minute. The decisive goal came just five minutes from the end, securing a 3-2 victory for Great Olympics.
Next Sunday, Great Olympics will face Asante Kotoko away, while Berekum Chelsea will host RTU.
