Karela United bolstered their chances of avoiding relegation from the Ghana Premier League with a crucial 2-1 victory over Nsoatreman FC on Sunday at the Naa Sheriga Sports Complex.
This win, occurring in match week 31, propelled Karela United from 14th to 12th place in the league standings, now holding 40 points. Nsoatreman FC, who began the day in fifth place, have slipped to sixth with 45 points.
Welbeck Takyi put Nsoatreman in the lead after 16 minutes of play, a scoreline they maintained into halftime. However, just ten minutes into the second half, Collins Kudjoe equalized for Karela United, quieting the home supporters.
Karela United quickly regained their lead only eight minutes after the equalizer. Team captain Mohammed Fatawu netted the decisive goal three minutes past the hour mark, securing the victory.
With only three matches remaining in the season, Karela United is well-positioned to retain their spot in the Ghana Premier League for the next season.
