Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana is set to play in the Premier League next season after helping Southampton secure promotion with a hard-fought victory over Leeds United at Wembley.
Southampton triumphed 1-0 in the playoff final, joining Leicester City and Ipswich Town as the three clubs promoted from the Championship. Adam Armstrong scored the decisive goal in the 24th minute, latching onto an assist from Will Smallbone.
Although Kamaldeen was an unused substitute in the game, he becomes the second Ghanaian player to earn Premier League promotion this season, following Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, who qualified with Leicester City.
Kamaldeen will join fellow Ghanaians Kudus Mohammed, Thomas Teye Partey, Jordan Ayew, and Jeffrey Schlupp, who currently play for West Ham United, Arsenal, and Crystal Palace respectively, in the Premier League.
