Ghana U20 head coach Desmond Ofei remains optimistic about his squad’s chances in the 2024 WAFU B U20 Championship, despite admitting that preparations are not yet at the desired level.
The Black Satellites have been in camp for several weeks, focusing on replicating the success they enjoyed at the 2023 African Games.
“Preparation has been going on,” Ofei said, adding, “We’re not where we want to be yet, but the team is growing. I’m confident that before the tournament, we will be ready.”
Ghana has been drawn into Group A alongside Benin, Niger, and host nation Togo for the upcoming tournament, which serves as the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The draw for the qualifiers was held on September 26 in Côte d’Ivoire.
The Black Satellites aim to return to the U20 Africa Cup of Nations after missing out on the previous edition in 2023.
