Ghanaian internal Tariqe Fosu Henrey, continued his impressive form in the English League One when he scored again for Northampton Town as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Lincoln City on Tuesday night at Sincil Bank.
Fosu, a former Brentford and Stoke City star, had fired the visitors ahead in the second minute, before Tom Hamer levelled 16 minutes later.
Lincoln looked for a quick leveller and went close through Ethan Hamilton whose shot went just wide via a deflection. The Cobblers were looking dangerous with every attack and Fosu shot wide after being played in by Mitch Pinnock but Lincoln were back on level terms on 18 minutes, Tom Hamer scoring from a corner.
Ben House fired over, Lee Burge made a terrific low save to turn behind a shot from Sean Roughan and Jack Baldwin made a goal-line clearance as the home side, boosted by the equaliser, enjoyed a period of pressure. With half-time approaching Lincoln were forced into a change when goalscorer Hamer picked up an injury, Lewis Montsma coming on.
Despite having been under pressure towards the end of the first half the Cobblers went close to re-taking the lead in stoppage time when Jon Guthrie’s powerful header from a Pinnock free-kick was tipped over by Wickens.
Brady made a change at half-time with Tom Eaves coming on for Ben Fox. Eaves hadn’t been on the field long when his night was ended early by injury, Will Hondermarck coming on following a lengthy delay as Eaves received treatment.
Wickens saved from Cameron McGeehan and House fired over in-between which the Cobblers made another change with Jack Sowerby replacing Samy Chouchane.
Tyler Roberts was sent off after being shown a second yellow card, leaving the Cobblers having to play out the final fifteen minutes plus stoppage time down to ten men.
Jack Baldwin made a vital block to deny Imps substitute Freddie Draper as Lincoln pushed for a winner and with 88 minutes on the clock it was another substitute, Erik Ring, who struck at the back post to put the home side in front.
Ring’s strike proved decisive and although the Cobblers battled hard in over eleven minutes of stoppage time Lincoln saw the game out to claim the three points.
Tariqe Fosu, 28, has scored three times so far this season and registered two assists in thirteen games for his new club Northampton Town.
