Ghanaian defender Alidu Seidu is filled with anticipation as he embarks on a new chapter with French Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais. The versatile 23-year-old recently completed a notable transfer from fellow Ligue 1 side Clermont Foot, with the deal valued at around €11 million.

After undergoing mandatory medical checks upon his return from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where his playing time was limited, Seidu committed to a substantial four-year contract, securing his association with Stade Rennais until 2028. Reflecting on the move, he expressed his excitement about joining what he considers a great club, deeming it a tremendous privilege.

Recalling his time at Clermont, Seidu acknowledged the club’s role in his personal and professional development. He remarked on the warm reception, emphasizing how Clermont embraced him like family, shaping him into the player he is today. As he transitions to Stade Rennais, Seidu sees it as a continuation of his football journey, expressing profound happiness about the adventure that lies ahead.

Known for his competitive spirit, Seidu described himself as a player who despises losing, highlighting his dedication as a fighter on the field. He pledged to give his all for his colleagues and emphasized his constant pursuit of progress and improvement. In his words, he stated, “I’m always looking to progress.”

Furthermore, Seidu revealed the personal connections he holds within the Stade Rennais squad. He expressed his close bond with Kamaldeen Sulemana, a former teammate now with Southampton, and Christopher Wooh. Anticipating a positive dynamic with other players he has encountered on Ligue 1 pitches, Seidu is confident that things will go well in the dressing room.

As Seidu integrates into Stade Rennais, he brings not only his versatile skills on the field but also a commitment to fostering a cohesive team environment. With a strong foundation from his previous experiences, a determination to succeed, and a network of supportive relationships within the squad, Alidu Seidu looks forward to contributing to Stade Rennais’ success in the seasons to come.
