English-born Ghanaian defender Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu scored a vital goal for Fleetwood Town in their 2-2 draw against Notts County in League Two.
The match, held at Meadow Lane, saw Fleetwood Town initially take control despite Notts County having more possession. Ryan Graydon gave Fleetwood the lead with a powerful glancing header that the County keeper couldn’t prevent.
Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu doubled Fleetwood’s advantage shortly after the break, putting them in a strong position. However, Notts County mounted a comeback with Alassana Jatta reducing the deficit with 30 minutes remaining, and Jodi Jones equalizing with a penalty in injury time.
Sarpong-Wiredu, who started the match and played 66 minutes, has now made two appearances and scored once in League Two this season.
The draw leaves the head-to-head record between the teams at one win for Notts County, two wins for Fleetwood Town, and one draw.
