Ghanaian defender Denis Odoi played a pivotal role for Royal Antwerp in their 1-1 draw against Gent in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League on Sunday.
Odoi, who was in the starting lineup, delivered an essential assist during the match held at the Planet Group Arena. The home side took the lead with a goal from Seven Kums in the 16th minute, assisted by Jordan Torunarigha.
Antwerp equalized in the 30th minute when Tjaronn Chery scored from Odoi’s precise pass. Despite efforts from both sides, no additional goals were scored in the second half, resulting in a stalemate.
The 36-year-old Odoi, who joined Antwerp this summer after leaving Club Brugge, has now made five appearances for his new club this season, contributing one assist. His performance in the match highlighted his continued importance on the field.
Notably, Odoi was not included in the Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
