Bayer Leverkusen enjoyed a dominant 4-0 win over Fortuna Düsseldorf in the DFB Pokal semi-final on Wednesday evening, with Jeremie Frimpong, a Dutch-born Ghanaian defender, netting an impressive goal.
Frimpong, who kicked off the game at the BayArena, struck early in the 7th minute with a brilliant right-footed shot from the center of the box, finding the top right corner. The 20-year-old defender played the entire match and consistently posed a threat on the right wing.
Amine Adli extended Leverkusen’s lead in the 20th minute with a left-footed shot from the left side of the box, set up by Florian Wirtz during a rapid counter-attack. Wirtz then added his name to the scoresheet in the 35th minute, firing home with his left foot from the center of the box, assisted by Adli.
Wirtz completed the scoring spree in the 60th minute by calmly converting a penalty with his right foot into the bottom left corner of the net.
