Ghanaian defender Kelvin Abrefa has extended his stay at Reading Football Club for two more seasons.
Kelvin returned to Bearwood for pre-season training on Wednesday 26th June, 2024 and has signed on the dotted line for a new deal which will see him remain a Royal until the summer of 2026.
”We are delighted to announce that defender Kelvin Abrefa has penned a new two-year contract with the club,” the club announced.
Abrefa first joined in 2017 when he signed for our under-12s, and will stretch his association with the club to nine years with his new deal.
He became the club’s 74th Academy Graduate when he made his First Team debut in a Championship match against Coventry City at the Select Car Leasing Stadium in February 2022.
He then made his FA Cup debut in some style in January 2023, starting the Third Round tie against Watford and scoring a spectacular opening goal.
2023-24 saw Kelvin juggle regular U21 football along with important contributions to our first team, playing in the Carabao Cup and our historic 9-0 win over Exeter in September – as well as stepping up to start in a vital period of our league run-in.
