Defender Maxwell Woledzi has been named in Norway’s Team of the Year following an outstanding season with Fredrikstad.
The Right to Dream Academy graduate played a crucial role in helping Fredrikstad secure a sixth-place league finish and crowned the campaign with a Norway Cup triumph, earning the club a spot in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers.
Woledzi, who joined Fredrikstad in the summer of 2023 from Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes, was a defensive powerhouse throughout the 2024 season. The 23-year-old made 29 appearances, recording 54 interceptions, the second-highest in the league.
His impressive performances at the heart of Fredrikstad’s defence not only earned him recognition as one of the league’s best but also secured him a spot in the season’s best XI.
The former Ghana youth international is already attracting interest from top clubs across Norway and Scandinavia, thanks to his consistent displays. However, his current contract with Fredrikstad runs until the summer of 2026.
Woledzi is a product of the Right to Dream Academy and previously played for FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark, where he shared the field with notable players like Mohammed Kudus, Mohamed Diomande, and Simon Adingra.
