Brighton & Hove Albion manager Fabian Hurzeler has confirmed that Tariq Lamptey will not be available for their Premier League opener against Everton. The Seagulls are set to face Sean Dyche’s side at Goodison Park on Saturday.
In a statement on the club’s website, Hurzeler shared an update on the squad’s fitness, revealing that Lamptey, along with Pervis Estupiñán and Evan Ferguson, has returned to training but won’t be ready in time for the upcoming match. “It’s great news, but I’m not sure if they’re ready for the first match,” said the former FC St. Pauli coach.
Lamptey, who endured a challenging previous season due to injuries under former manager Roberto De Zerbi, is expected to play a significant role for Brighton this season. Last campaign, the Ghanaian international made 19 Premier League appearances.
Despite his absence from the Everton game, Lamptey is anticipated to be fit in time for Ghana’s opening two matches in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger next month.
