Wisdom Niaitey Quaye, a defender of Ghanaian descent from Honduras, has been banned by FIFA for 18 months due to an anti-doping rule violation.
He tested positive for clostebol during a FIFA World Cup qualification game that took place in February this year.
Clostebol is prohibited under category S1 of the 2022 WADA Prohibited List (anabolic agents) and hence is prohibited in the FIFA Anti-Doping Regulations.
The player admitted to the use of the substance and will be made to suffer the consequences until August 2023.
Quaye July made his senior debut for Honduras on January 28, 2022 in a World Cup qualifier against Canada.
He went ahead to feature in two more matches against El Salvador and the United States of America.
