Ghanaian duo Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer and Daniel Heber have been recognized for their exceptional performances in the Bundesliga 2, securing a place in the team of the week for week 1.
Königsdörffer, a winger, played a key role in Hamburger SV’s 2-1 victory over FC Köln, scoring two goals in the match.
In the RheinEnergieSTADION, Königsdörffer opened the scoring in the 5th minute with a right-footed shot from close range, finding the bottom right corner. He doubled the lead in the 35th minute, again using his right foot to slot the ball home from the right side of the six-yard box. Despite FC Köln’s dominance in possession and shots, Hamburger SV maintained their lead.
FC Köln pulled one back in the 78th minute through Linton Maina, who headed in a cross from Dejan Ljubicic. However, it was too little too late as Hamburger SV held on for the win. The victory takes Hamburger SV’s head-to-head record against FC Köln to 9 wins, 7 losses, and 4 draws.
Meanwhile, Daniel Heber, a German-born Ghanaian defender, helped Magdeburg keep a clean sheet in their goalless draw against Elversberg. Heber’s impressive performance earned him a spot in the team of the week alongside Königsdörffer.
