Asante Kotoko head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has revealed that some of the club’s youth players will be given a chance to feature in the first team during the 2024/25 football season.
The coach made this statement in an interview with the media team of the club on Monday, August 5.
According to Coach Ogum, he is confident that some of the teenagers in the youth team will excel when given the opportunity to play alongside the first-team players. The coach’s goal is to transition some of these young players into the first team, and he believes that they will be able to hold their own alongside more experienced players.
“We will register some of these boys in the system and as the league unfolds, we will let some of them have a feel of it. So, what we want to do is that we will look at them and some of the time we will ask some of them to come and join the first team and then train. When it is possible we will give them the opportunity to play. I’m sure some of these players if we give them the opportunity, they will rock shoulders with some of the first-team players,” Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum said.
The decision to give opportunities to youth players is part of Asante Kotoko’s plan to revamp their squad and achieve success in the 2024/25 football season. Following a trophyless campaign last season, Coach Ogum is keen to lead the team to at least one trophy at the end of the season.
The coach’s emphasis on youth development is expected to breathe new life into the team, and fans are eager to see which young players will make an impact in the upcoming season.
