Friday morning saw a thrilling match in the Chinese Super League as Zhejiang Professional secured a 5-2 victory over Nantong Zhiyun FC at the Yellow Dragon Sports Center Stadium.
Dutch-born Ghanaian attacker Deabeas Owusu-Sekyere scored a crucial goal for his team, continuing his impressive form in the 2024 season.
The head-to-head record between the two teams before the game stood at two wins for Zhejiang Professional, one win for Nantong Zhiyun FC, and three draws. Owusu-Sekyere, starting for Zhejiang, played for 73 minutes.
Zhejiang Professional dominated possession and shots from the start. In the 13th minute, Franko Andrijasevic headed in a goal from the center of the box, assisted by Qian Jiegei’s cross following a corner. Nantong Zhiyun FC equalized in the 25th minute with Issa Kallon’s header, assisted by Ye Daochi.
Zhejiang regained the lead in the 37th minute with Jean Kouassi’s right-footed shot from a difficult angle, assisted by Li Tixiang. Owusu-Sekyere extended the lead in the 45th minute with a right-footed shot, assisted by Andrijasevic after a set-piece.
In the 61st minute, Zhejiang’s Leonardo scored with a right-footed shot from the center of the box, assisted by Andrijasevic. Nantong Zhiyun pulled one back in the 83rd minute with Kévin Nzuzi Mata’s left-footed shot, assisted by Wei Lai. However, Zhejiang’s Leonardo sealed the victory with a goal in the 90+7 minute, assisted by Yao Junsheng.
Owusu-Sekyere has been in impressive form in the 2024 Chinese Super League, scoring five goals in 12 games.
