Ghanaian striker Ropapa Mensah found the net in Chattanooga Red Wolves SC’s thrilling 5-3 victory over Lexington SC.
Ropapa Mensah was included in the starting lineup at the Toyota Stadium and played the full 90 minutes.
The scoring action began in the 13th minute when Chattanooga’s Marios Lomis broke through Lexington SC’s defense, slipping the ball past Amal Knight to give the Red Wolves a 1-0 lead. Shortly thereafter, Jonny Filipe, unmarked just outside the area, fired a powerful shot past Knight to extend the Red Wolves’ advantage to 2-0 within the first 20 minutes.
Lexington pulled one back just before halftime as Nico Brown converted a penalty kick to narrow the Red Wolves’ lead to 2-1. However, their joy was short-lived as Ryley Kraft set up Ropapa Mensah, who scored to make it 3-1.
Omar Gomez and Mayele Malango added the fourth and fifth goals for Chattanooga Red Wolves SC. Alassane Diouf scored twice for the home team, making it 5-3.
In their upcoming league match, the Red Wolves will face Central Valley Fuego FC.
