Ghana international Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has officially ended his association with SC Freiburg after receiving an emotional farewell from the Bundesliga club ahead of the expiration of his contract.
The 30-year-old was among three departing players honoured by Freiburg following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season, a historic campaign in which the club reached a European final for the first time.
Kyereh joined Freiburg from FC St. Pauli in July 2022 after impressing in Germany’s second tier. However, a serious ACL injury shortly after his arrival derailed his progress and kept him sidelined for nearly three years.
The setback restricted the midfielder to just 18 appearances in all competitions for Freiburg, during which he scored two goals and provided one assist.
Despite the lengthy absence, Kyereh showed encouraging signs during the final stages of his recovery, returning to action with Freiburg’s U23 side. He made an immediate impact, contributing two goals and two assists in eight matches.
The former Black Stars midfielder will become a free agent on July 1 and is expected to attract interest from clubs in Germany and abroad as he seeks to relaunch his career.
Having overcome one of the most difficult periods of his professional journey, Kyereh now looks ahead to a fresh chapter with hopes of rediscovering the form that established him as one of Ghana’s most exciting midfield talents.
