Ghana midfielder Godfried Frimpong was in a thrilling form for his team in the Liga Portugal as he bagged an assist in their game.
Moreirense pulled off a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory against Gil Vicente in Round 11 of Liga Portugal on Friday night at the Parque Desportivo Comendador Joaquim de Almeida Freitas.
Gil Vicente initially took control of the game in the first half, with Tidjany Tour opening the scoring in the 25th minute. Shortly after halftime, Jorge Aguirre extended their lead to 2-0 with a well-placed header.
Undeterred, Moreirense launched a spirited fightback. Guilherme Schettine sparked hope for the home side by scoring in the 65th minute, narrowing the deficit. Just five minutes later, Dutch-born Ghanaian left-back Godfried Frimpong made a key contribution, sending a precise cross to Dinis Pinto, who found the net to equalize. This assist was Frimpong’s first of the season, highlighting his ability to influence the attack.
With the match approaching its conclusion, Moreirense completed the comeback in the 87th minute when Luís Asué’s header secured the winning goal, sealing a memorable 3-2 victory.
The thrilling win boosts Moreirense’s confidence as they gear up for their upcoming Taca de Portugal clash against FC Porto on November 24.
