Ghanaian midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana made his Serie A debut for Atalanta during their season opener against Lecce on Monday evening. Atalanta, the reigning Europa League champions, traveled to the Stadio Ettore Giardiniero, where they secured an impressive 4-0 victory to kick off their Serie A campaign.
Sulemana, who joined Atalanta in the summer transfer window, entered the match as a late substitute, coming off the bench in the 90th minute to replace Mario Pasalic. Although his time on the pitch was brief, it marked an important milestone as he featured in the convincing win.
The victory was powered by two goals each from Marco Brescianini and Mateo Retegui, ensuring a dominant performance for the visitors.
Sulemana, known for his standout performances over the past two seasons with Hellas Verona and Cagliari, is now aiming for more playing time as he competes for a starting spot under head coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
The 21-year-old midfielder also made his international debut for Ghana in June, featuring in the World Cup qualifiers against Mali.
