Ghanaian midfielder King Manu seals loan move to Hansa Rostock from Fortuna Düsseldorf

Ghanaian youngster King Manu has joined German 3.Liga side FC Hansa Rostock on a season-long loan deal from Fortuna Düsseldorf.

The 20-year-old midfielder is set to gain valuable experience in the lower division as he continues his development as a rising star in European football.

FC Hansa Rostock confirmed the loan deal, stating that there is no obligation to purchase Manu permanently after the loan expires. The club’s official statement reads: “FC Hansa has strengthened its squad once again, securing the versatile King Manu from second division club Fortuna Düsseldorf until the end of the season. The 20-year-old can play in central attack, defensive midfield, and central defense. Standing at 1.95 meters tall, Manu has made five second division appearances for Fortuna’s first team and 17 regional league matches (scoring four goals) for their second team. Manu, who was developed in Borussia Mönchengladbach’s youth system, also played in the Oberliga Niederrhein for MSV Düsseldorf (30 matches/4 goals).”

After signing the loan deal, Manu expressed his excitement about the move: “After talking to Amir Shapourzadeh, the head coach, and Chris Kinsombi, whom I already know, I quickly felt that this was the right option for me. I believe I can help the team with my qualities and develop myself further both athletically and in terms of character. I can play in a variety of central positions, including central defense, because I’m an aggressive player who always wants to win. I’m looking forward to the year at Hansa and the fans, and I’ll give it my all.”

Sporting director Amir Shapourzadeh also spoke highly of Manu: “King Manu convinced us with his mentality and assertiveness. He took an unconventional path to reach professional football, which speaks to his determination. With his size, physique, and power, Manu brings a unique and invigorating element to our game, making us more unpredictable. We thank Fortuna Düsseldorf for allowing us to bring such a talented player to Rostock on loan.”

Despite being born and raised in Germany, Manu remains eligible to represent Ghana at the international level due to his Ghanaian heritage.
