Austrian Bundesliga powerhouse, Red Bull Salzburg have announced the signing of talented Ghanaian midfielder Lawrence Agyekum from Ghana Premier League side West African Football Academy SC.
The 18-year-old has joined “The Red Bulls” on a four-year contract after passing a mandatory medical examination earlier this week.
“With Lawrence Agyekum we sign a promising talent from Ghana . The 18-year-old midfielder comes from Ghana’s top division club West African Football Academy and has signed a contract until June 30, 2026,” a club statement read.
“The youngster will initially be used as a cooperation player at FC Liefering,” the statement added.
Agyekum, a promising star, had an impressive campaign with West African Football Academy SC last season in the Ghana Premier League after scoring three goals and providing four assists in 27 games as the Sogakope based side finished fourth on the league log.
Before leaving for his latest destination, the budding midfielder has managed to score one goal in his six appearances for his side in the 2021-22 Ghana Premier League this season.
He becomes the third WAFA SC player to join Red Bull Arena after Daniel Owusu and Amankwah Forson.
