Ghanaian international Simon Zibo has sealed a move to Maltese top-flight side Sliema Wanderers, signing a two-year contract with the record champions.
The former Ghana U23 defensive midfielder joins from rival club Birkirkara FC, where he made 22 appearances and scored one goal in the just concluded season. Zibo’s new deal marks his second stint in Malta, having previously played for Birkirkara FC.
Zibo will be reunited with his new teammates as pre-season begins next week ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. He becomes the third Ghanaian player to join the club, following in the footsteps of James Arthur and Geoffrey Acheampong.
The 27-year-old midfielder started his European journey with Portuguese side Vitória Guimarães after impressing with Ghanaian side Liberty Professionals in 2019.
He will now look to make a significant impact at Sliema Wanderers, who are aiming to regain their status as Maltese champions.
