Ghanaian youngster Christopher Baah Bonsu has made it into the 2023 European Golden Boy Award list of 100 players.
Baah Bonsu made the list of 100 best U21 players released by the European Golden Boy website following an outstanding performance for Sarpsborg 08 in Norway.
He’s in competition with England and former Borussia Dortmund star midfielder, Jude Bellingham for the prestigious award as well as Pedri of FC Barcelona.
Baah will have a tough and stellar competition for the award as Jamal Musiala of Germany Bundesliga record Champions FC Bayern Munich all included in the list.
The 18-year-old versatile attacker formerly of Shooting Stars FC was ranked 59th with rating index of 66.6.
The Golden Boy award was set up by Tuttosport in 2003 and now includes the participation of multiple newspapers around Europe, like L’Equipe in France and the Times in England.
Jude Bellingham also features among the 100 candidates for the Golden Boy Award 2023, presented by Tuttosport based on the votes of 50 sports journalists for the most outstanding footballer playing for a European club and born after 1 January 2003.
New for this season, the Italian publication ranks the contenders for the trophy using the Golden Boy index, a statistical measure that takes into account individual performances, playing time, team value and the performance of each player in national teams and European competitions. Bellingham ranks second highest with 95, behind only Musiala (Bayern Munich), who has a score of 98.3.
