Ghanaian young talent Fatawu Ganiwu has returned to Ghana following an impressive trial with Chelsea, signing a season-long loan deal with Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities. The move was first reported by Flashscore.

The 16-year-old midfielder spent the past month in London, where he showcased his abilities across multiple levels within Chelsea’s academy.

Ganiwu was a standout player in Laryea Kingston’s Ghana U-17 squad, which competed in the UEFA U-16 invitational tournament in 2023.

Ganiwu, who previously trialed with French side RC Lens and German club RB Leipzig, caught Chelsea’s eye and left a strong impression during a friendly match against Sheffield United that ended in a 1-1 draw. He also featured in a Chelsea U-18 game against Manchester United U-18.

His notable performance during the trial earned him the chance to watch Chelsea’s preseason friendly against Inter Milan, further highlighting his potential.

Now back in Ghana, Ganiwu is set to continue his development with Legon Cities for the 2024/25 season, where he aims to make a significant impact.
