Promising Ghanaian-Swedish talent, Jonah Kusi-Asare, faces a setback as he has been sidelined for the remainder of the season with FC Bayern’s U-19 side due to an ankle injury.
The 16-year-old sustained the injury during Bayern U-19’s clash against FC Kaiserslautern in a German Junior Bundesliga fixture last weekend. With three goals and one assist in eight games, Kusi-Asare has been a standout performer for the team.
FC Bayern confirmed the news in a statement, revealing that Kusi-Asare will undergo surgery in the coming days to address the ankle injury.
“The The 16-year-old winter signing from Sweden suffered an ankle injury in the A-Junior Bundesliga game against 1. FC Kaiserslautern ( 3-1 ) and will undergo an operation in the next few days.”
“This means that Kusi-Asare, who has played eight competitive games in a Bayern jersey so far (three goals, one assist), will no longer play in the remaining four games of the season and is expected to be out for a few months.”
Although currently representing the Swedish U16 national youth team, the talented forward retains eligibility to don the Ghanaian colors on the international stage, offering him diverse career options for the future.
