Ghana international Ernest Nuamah aims to make a significant impact in the UEFA Europa League following his debut with French club Olympique Lyon. The Black Stars winger was instrumental in Lyon’s 2-0 victory over Olympiacos Piraeus last week, showcasing his skills on the European stage.
Throughout the match, Nuamah was a constant threat on the flanks, utilizing his speed and creativity to challenge the Greek defense. The former Nordjaelland player started the game and played 81 minutes, contributing significantly to his team’s success and earning a solid match rating of 7.2.
Reflecting on his performance, Nuamah shared on Instagram, “A good start to kick off our Europa League journey. First taste of Europa League and a win to round up a great team performance. Hungry for more.”
The match saw Lyon break the deadlock in the 65th minute with a goal from Rayan Cherki, assisted by Ainsley Maitland-Niles. Wilfried Zaha later set up Said Benrahma, who sealed the 2-0 victory for the French side.
Having recently recovered from an injury, Nuamah is expected to be called up to the Black Stars squad for the upcoming international break in October. Ghana will be facing Sudan in a crucial doubleheader as they aim to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
