Ghana international Mohammed Salisu has shared his thoughts on AS Monaco’s thrilling comeback victory over Montpellier in the French Ligue 1. The Black Stars defender played the entire match as Monaco secured a 2-1 win at home on Saturday.
Montpellier initially took the lead in the 16th minute when Congolese midfielder Rabby Nzingoula scored with assistance from Akor Adams. However, Monaco equalized in the 32nd minute through Folarin Balogun, who found the net after receiving a pass from Breel Embolo, ending the first half in a 1-1 draw.
In the second half, Monaco dominated the play and ultimately clinched the victory with a goal from substitute Lamine Camara in stoppage time.
Following the match, Salisu celebrated the team’s victory on social media, posting, “Until the end, three points. DAGHE.”
The former Real Valladolid defender was named the standout performer on the pitch, completing 74 out of 87 passes, the highest number of any player. He also excelled defensively, recording five successful tackles out of six attempts, winning seven out of nine ground duels, and achieving a perfect five out of five in aerial duels.
Salisu has made five appearances for Monaco across all competitions this season and is expected to be included in the Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sudan next month.
