Lyon secured a 3-2 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in their final Europa League group stage match at Groupama Stadium, with Ghanaian winger Ernest Nuamah netting a pivotal goal.
Frankfurt drew first blood in the 18th minute when Ansgar Knauff slotted home after a defensive lapse from Lyon. However, the hosts responded swiftly, with Rayan Cherki’s deflected effort leveling the score at 27 minutes.
After the break, Lyon turned the tide. Cherki provided an exquisite assist to Malick Fofana, who put Lyon ahead 2-1 in the 50th minute. Just four minutes later, Nuamah showcased his talent with a brilliant strike into the top corner following a precise pass from Cherki, making it 3-1.
Frankfurt refused to surrender, and in the 85th minute, Omar Marmoush pulled one back with a composed finish, narrowing the deficit to 3-2. Despite Frankfurt’s late push, Lyon held firm to secure the win.
Nuamah, who was a constant threat throughout the match, played 72 minutes in an impressive performance ahead of their upcoming Ligue 1 clash with PSG.
