Ghanaian winger Ibrahim Sadiq put in a dazzling display, netting a brace to lead AZ Alkmaar to a 2-1 victory over PEC Zwolle in their Eredivisie matchup on Friday night at the MAC³PARK Stadion.
Sadiq wasted no time making his mark, opening the scoring in just the 6th minute with a left-footed finish from the center of the box after a swift counter-attack, set up by Ruben van Bommel. He then doubled AZ Alkmaar’s lead in the 51st minute with a spectacular left-footed strike from outside the box, sending the ball into the top corner.
Despite PEC Zwolle dominating possession, AZ Alkmaar’s clinical finishing proved decisive. Sadiq, who has been in scintillating form, now boasts four goals and three assists in six Eredivisie appearances this season.
The victory also extends AZ Alkmaar’s strong head-to-head record against PEC Zwolle to 16 wins, 8 draws, and 3 losses. With this win, AZ Alkmaar shifts its focus to their upcoming Europa League clash against Elfsborg on September 25.
