Ghanaian forward Samuel Owusu has rejoined European football by signing with Serbian top-flight club OFK Beograd for the 2024/25 season.
The 28-year-old, who is familiar with Serbia’s Superliga from previous stints at Cukaricki and Radnik Nis, has signed with OFK following a brief period at NEOM SC in Saudi Arabia. After recent struggles with fitness and time spent on the sidelines, Owusu is expected to return to form with his new club.
His return to Serbia is a significant boost for OFK Beograd, thanks to his extensive experience in the league and his ability to create moments of brilliance with his left foot.
Owusu will also be aiming for a return to the Black Stars as he embarks on his third spell in Serbian football. He began his career abroad with Radnik Nis, before moving to Turkey to play for Genclerbirligi in 2016. He made a notable impact upon his return to Serbia with Cukaricki in 2017, catching the eye of then-Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah.
The 17-time capped Ghana international represented the Black Stars in the 2019 and 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
