In a thrilling encounter between Elfsborg and GAIS in the Swedish Cup, 19-year-old Ghanaian forward Jalal Abdulai emerged as the hero for his team, sealing a 2-0 victory at the Borås Arena.
The match began with both sides displaying attacking intent, creating numerous scoring opportunities. However, it wasn’t until the 80th minute that Sebastian Holmen broke the deadlock, handing Elfsborg the lead.
With GAIS pushing for an equalizer, the game remained finely balanced until the late stages.
Abdulai, introduced in the 67th minute, made an instant impact, netting Elfsborg’s second goal in the sixth minute of added time. His decisive strike, orchestrated by compatriot Michael Baidoo, sealed the win for Elfsborg.
Baidoo, despite missing a penalty opportunity earlier in the match, redeemed himself with a crucial assist for Abdulai’s goal, showcasing the resilience and teamwork of the Ghanaian duo.
The victory propels Elfsborg into the next round of the Swedish Cup, setting the stage for further challenges as they aim to clinch the prestigious trophy.
