Ghanaian midfielder, Kwame Afriyie Adubofour Poku played a pivotal role in Peterborough United’s 1-0 victory over Reading in League One action on Saturday afternoon.
Before the match, the head-to-head record between the two teams stood at four wins for Reading, two wins for Peterborough United, and one draw.
Poku was included in Peterborough United’s starting lineup and remained on the field for 89 minutes. On the opposing side, Andy Yiadom started the game for Reading FC and played for 61 minutes.
In the 13th minute, Joel Randall received a well-executed assist from Ephron Mason-Clark, but unfortunately, Randall’s left-footed shot soared over the crossbar.
Merely four minutes later, Harvey Knibbs aimed a curling shot that was expertly deflected by Bilokapic, while Andy Carroll’s powerful header was comfortably saved by the Posh goalkeeper.
Referee Simon Mather issued a warning to Reading manager Ruben Selles for dissent in the 34th minute.
Andy Yiadom received a yellow card in the 38th minute for tossing the ball into the stands after failing to keep it in play.
The breakthrough came in the 43rd minute as Peterborough United took the lead. Captain Ephron Mason-Clark’s commanding header found the back of the net, with the assist credited to Kwame Poku.
Looking ahead, Peterborough United will shift their focus to the upcoming EFL Cup fixture against Swindon Town.
