Rafiq Lamptey, an English-born midfielder of Ghanaian descent, extended his impressive scoring streak for Millwall’s U21 side, netting a goal in their dominant 4-0 victory over Crewe Alexandra in the Professional Development League.
The younger brother of Ghana international Tariq Lamptey made his mark in the 55th minute, firing home a well-taken goal to seal the win for Millwall. His effort came shortly after the break, capping off an already one-sided performance from the home team.
Lamptey was substituted five minutes later, making way for Ben Drake as the team looked ahead to their next fixture against Bristol City U21 on Wednesday.
Millwall took full control of the game early on, thanks to a sensational performance from forward Frankie Baker, who scored a hat-trick within just 14 minutes. Baker opened the scoring from close range, added a second in similar fashion shortly after, and completed his treble just before the halftime whistle.
Lamptey then added the finishing touch ten minutes into the second half, rounding off an emphatic performance for the young Lions.
Although he was born in England, Rafiq Lamptey is still eligible to play for Ghana at the international level, just like his older brother Tariq.
