Ghanaian winger Raymond Asante has completed a permanent move to Belgian Jupiler Pro League outfit Royal Charleroi Sporting Club from Serie A side Udinese Calcio. The deal includes an initial one-year contract, with the option to extend it by two additional years at the end of the current season.
Asante, who started his football journey with Ghana’s Young Apostles, impressed Charleroi during his loan spell with their reserve team in the Belgian First Amateur Division. His strong performances, including two goals in eight appearances, caught the attention of the club’s management, leading to the permanent transfer.
In an official statement, Royal Charleroi SC expressed their excitement about the signing:
“Sporting Charleroi is pleased to announce the permanent transfer of Raymond Asante from Udinese Calcio (Serie A). Arriving this summer on loan, the young Ghanaian winger is now tied to the club until 2026, with an option for two additional years.
Despite being sidelined due to injury, Raymond has shown professionalism and dedication. The club has full confidence in his potential and believes he will gradually make his mark in the first team.”
Although Asante is yet to debut for Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, his move to Charleroi presents an opportunity for him to further develop his talent on a bigger stage. This transfer highlights the growing influence of Ghanaian players in European football.
