Myron Boadu bagged a hat-trick in his side’s thrilling 3-3 draw against RB Leipzig.
The 24-year-old forward’s performance not only salvaged a crucial point for the league’s bottom team but also showcased his invaluable finishing prowess.
“He showed himself and all of us that we have a weapon up front that has been a bit lost so far,” Hecking acknowledged, following the intense comeback. Despite recent public criticism regarding Boadu’s training efforts, the coach recognized the striker’s ability to influence games significantly. “I hope that he carries his self-confidence into the next few weeks. If he plays like that, he can become really important for us.”
Boadu’s progress has been hampered by injury, including a challenging recovery from a pubic bone infection. Still, Hecking revealed that the forward’s starting role against Leipzig was premeditated after an encouraging one-on-one conversation: “I said: Myron, just keep going. You are someone who has a quality that we don’t have.”
